I chose the quote, "A good book on your shelf is a friend that turns its back on you and remains a friend." , because it represents me in many ways. This quote reminds me of my life. I know what it feels like to have a good friend, a best friend actually, that turns their back on you. Put it this way. Me and my best friend have been best friends since grade 4. We tell each other everything and always spend a lot of time together having fun. Ever since high school we have been fighting a lot. It doesn't help that we have never gone to the same schools and now we chose different high schools, too. This just causes trouble all the time. We fight and then make up. That's the way it has always been but now it gets worse.
We always fight but we both know it won't last. We've been best friends for too long to forget each other. I don't know what I'd do without her. So I guess this quote just spoke to me because it's sort of the same idea. My friend and I turn our backs on each other sometime and we still remain friends, that's just the way it works, and that's the same with me and a good book.
When I find a good book I like it becomes my best friend, and a book can always turn its back on you but will remain a friend, the same way it works when you have a fight with a friend. You can still always count on them to be there for you.
